29.10.2009 OJSC “Agroinvestbank” merged with European Bank for Reconstruction and Development

     Dushanbe, October 28th, 2009. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development became the shareholder of OJSC “Agroinvestbank”, by investing USD 11,5 million (TJS 50,0 million) on October 28th to the capital of the Tajik bank and acquisitioning of 25 % + 1 share of OJSC “Agroinvestbank”.

    Equity investment of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to the capital of OJSC “Agroinvestbank” will allow to expand essentially frameworks and horizons of cooperation of the parties at qualitatively new level, thereby, creating a basis for stability not only for the bank, but also potential growth of the banking system of the country in connection with business support of various branches of real sector of economy of Tajikistan. After the equity investment of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, OJSC “Agroinvestbank” increased its capital up to TJS 178,3 million.

   It should be noticed that the subscription agreement of EBRD’s merging into the capital of Tajik bank was on August 12th, 2009 in Dushanbe. 

        Cooperation between Banks has begun with signing of joint policy statement in March, 2005 of the, which made OJSC “Agroinvestbank” the competent partner of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in realization of the Tajikistan Micro and Small Enterprise Finance Facility Program (TMSEF), Trade Finance Program (TFP) in Tajikistan. OJSC “Agroinvestbank” also participates in realization of the next project of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development - Tajik Agricultural Finance Facility (TAFF) since 2008.
